The Perspectives Series is a quarterly digital and hybrid event organised by the DG Murray Trust (DGMT) where we convene civil society, the private sector and government around the table to share their perspectives on topical issues.
In our first event, we ask the question: “What do we need to do to escape the inequality trap?”.
Our nation is one of the most unequal in the world. The majority of South Africans are stuck in an inequality trap with wealth concentrated in the hands of a few.
Most are stuck in intergenerational loops of exclusion with few chances to escape. Breaking this cycle requires a fundamental change in life trajectories.
Join DGMT CEO David Harrison, Professor Haroon Bhorat, Director of the Development Policy Research Unit at UCT, Kate Philip, Project Lead of the Presidential Employment Stimulus and Lebo Ramafoko, Executive Director at Oxfam SA to and get a fresh perceptive on what it will take to escape the inequality trap.
